GLOBAL SIM TECHNOLOGY
A: The term SIM means Subscriber Identity Module and is in general terms a removable Smart Card, used in mobile telephony devices such as computers and cell phones. It is a little bigger than a postage stamp and when placed into your GSM cell phone, it will give you service on a particular GSM network. The RoamTalk Global SIM card also provides you with an international cell phone number.
Yes. The RoamTalk global SIM card will work with the majority of current GSM phones.
RoamTalk phones utilize call-back technology. When you have dialed your number and pressed the “send” key you will see the number dialing on the screen, followed by a message thanking you for your request. Within 2-4 seconds your phone will ring you back and you should answer it in the normal way and listen for your call to be connected.
A: Tri-band and quad-band international cell phones allow you to use your phone in other countries. GSM 900 and 1800 MHz are used in most parts of the world: Europe, Asia, Australia, Middle East and Africa. GSM 850 and 1900 MHz are used in the US, Canada, Mexico and most countries in South America. It should be noted that you cannot use tri or quad band phones in Japan and South Korea, as these countries use a different technology to the rest of the world, which is called 3G. The RoamTalk International cell phones are tri and quad band, however we would recommend purchasing the quad band phone as this phone can be used in the vast majority of countries worldwide.
A: No, this service is not currently available.
A: The RoamTalk global SIM card works in all current GSM handsets, which are unlocked. Either your network provider or we can help you to unlock your phone.
A: You can either ask your cell phone supplier or insert your RoamTalk global SIM card into your phone and switch it on. If a normal screen is displayed your phone is unlocked. If the screen displays an error message such as "Enter Subsidy Code" or "Phone Restricted" or asks you to enter a code other than the PIN code your phone is probably SIM locked.
A: It is possible to unlock a phone. Please check this with your cell phone supplier or network operator to get the unlocking code. RoamTalk customer support can assist you with this.
